2024 NFL Pro Day with Corey Crooms
Corey Crooms, former University of Minnesota wide receiver, wrapped up his pro day for the 2024 NFL Draft last month in March. Crooms takes us into one of the most challenging and anticipated days right before his eyes.
First, he told us the part that excited him the most.
“My favorite part was being able to showcase my skills and put them on display in front of NFL teams and various coaches of that nature, and being around the guys again back in Minnesota,” shared Crooms.
He shared what things that he would’ve done differently and would like to improve on.
“Just breathe,” he advised. “Take the time to breathe and don’t worry about all the external things; just focus on what I need to get done. I’d say I did a pretty good job, but just focus on me and not everybody else.”
He emphasized how much enjoyment the process plays in the experience and recommends that to all future pro day athletes.
“Enjoy the process,” he shared. “It’s like a rollercoaster with a lot of different emotions, up and down. Be thankful for everything because you only get one shot at this, so be thankful for it.”
Agents through this process can alleviate a lot of the stress that goes through an athlete’s mind during this time.
“Make sure you guys have a good vibe,” he noted. “Feel them out. Make sure they are there specifically for you and have your best interests. Make sure that they are doing whatever they possibly can to make sure you reach your full potential and get to the next level.”
He described his agent experience.
“It opened a lot of doors for me,” he said. “Connecting me with a lot of different people. It helped put me out there more, getting my name out there. Coaches and scouts can understand, ‘Who is Corey Crooms? What is his value to our team? What can he bring to the table?’ and stuff like that.”
