2024 NFL Pro Day with Phoenix Sproles
Phoenix Sproles, former James Madison University wide receiver, has completed his incredible journey of NFL draft training with his pro day wrapping up in March 2024. With dedication and hard work, he recently showcased his skills at his NFL pro day, the culmination of two months of intense preparation. Join us as we delve deeper into Phoenix’s journey, uncovering how his pro day felt.
“I felt really good,” said Sproles. “I felt like I was really prepared from the training that I had and mentally like it was something I was looking forward to for a long time. I felt not really nervous but more so anxious. But just go out there and show them what I could do. Overall it was a good day and it was a really exciting moment that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. It was fun.”
He found a lot of enjoyment in seeing his friends from James Madison University once more and described it as his most enjoyable experience during pro day.
“Being around my guys, knowing that they are out there chasing their dreams with me while working towards the common goal of playing at the professional level,” he shared. “Seeing all of them do their thing and seeing myself accomplish things that I wanted to do. Going out there during pro day, seeing the numbers, and being happy with the results.”
Looking into potential issues he faced, Sproles described how weather conditions made pro day not so easy.
“I think there is room for improvement in anything,” he said. “One thing I wanted to improve on was my 40-yard dash. The weather played a big factor in all of our 40s; there was a lot of wind that we ran against, and that was unfortunate. But besides that, literally everything else was what I expected. I wish there were better weather conditions and it wasn’t as cold outside, but it is what it is.”
For athletes who want to pursue the same path, Sproles shared some advice for high school and college athletes.
“Stay the course, be where your feet are at, be there for your high school, don’t worry about college or going pro,” he shared. “For college guys, same thing. You can’t think about the next level until you get through what you are doing now, so make sure whatever you’re doing now has all your attention, all your passion, and work hard for where you are right now.”
Sproles expressed how much he enjoyed training and preparing for pro day in South Florida.
“I trained every day, worked hard, but also went out to the beach, hung out with the guys outside of football. I feel like you have to enjoy those things,” shared Sproles. “I never thought I would live in Florida for two months and some weeks, so that was cool to be down there and live that Florida life. I thought I did everything that I needed to do down there athletically. I wish I could’ve stayed there a little longer. It flew by now that I think about it, but I did take full advantage of my time.”
Sproles decided to sign with agents at EAMG through his NFL draft experience, he noted how this made his experience for the better.
“I think they give more of a professional side of things that I didn’t see before,” he shared. “The workload they take on that I don’t have to. We are working with a company right now called AMB Ambition, an athletic clothing brand and Jake O’Donnell was on top of it all. All I had to do was just confirm things and that’s it. Everything else was done for me. I had good communication. Daniel Lomba, on the analytic and football side, talking to teams for me, letting me know what’s coming up, what I need to be ready for. The marketing side with Jake, handled all of that stuff. It takes a big weight off your shoulders.”
